The treatment of anti-GAD negative stiff person syndrome (Moersh-Woltman)
Objective: The authors report the efficacy of different therapeutic regimens in patients with stiff person dyndrome. Method: 44-year-old woman hospitalized because of symptoms of autonomic disfunction, paroxysmal muscle spasms and rigidity of the trunk. Eximination eliminated paraneoplastic variant of the illness. Anti glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD65) antibodies are negative. Results: Along with the applied therapy painfull spasm become rarer, but rigidiy persists and couses a joint deformities. The most effective therapy are benzodiazepines. Because of strog autoimune link imunomodulating therapies have yet to produce consistent results. Conclusion: The disease progresses ove the span of months and patients is bedridden now. Siff person syndrome is a disabling disorder with no satisfactory treatment
