Development of New Plastic Product With CAE Tools

The development of a new product begins with the identification of an opportunity. This can be an entirely new idea or one that has been under consideration for some time, such as an improvement on an existing product or the next generation of an existing one. Product designers must recognize that the design of the product will ultimately determine the “ ease of moulding” or the “ processibility” of the part, as well as the tooling requirements and cost. In this work, various designs of new plastic products were developed using the CAE tools. During the development process special attention was paid to the analysis of the selection of the material. Also, simulation of injection moulding was conducted in order to avoid potential moulding problems. The results obtained from the simulation were used for the optimization of an existing product design, for development of mould and for optimization of the processing parameters.
