Purification and kinetics of guinea-pig esterases hydrolyzing esterified monosaccharides

Mammalian serum is known to be a rich source of different enzymes, some of which can be used as catalysts in selective transformations of sugars. It was also shown that rabbit and guinea pig sera contain some esterases specific for acylated monosaccharides, but the regioselectivity of hydrolysis differs depending on the enzyme source. In this work we report on further purification, catalytic and kinetic properties of two different esterases isolated from guinea pig serum showing various degrees of activity and different regioselectivities.
