Thermal conductivity minimum of Nb4Te17I4
Thermal conductivity (K) is reported on the quasi-one-dimensional polytelluride Nb4Te17I4 in the chain direction in the temperature range 4 K -340 K. At low temperatures (T < 20 K) thermal conductivity of Nb4Te17I4 shows a maximum like in dielectric crystals. The estimated Debye temperature from low temperature thermal conductivity is TD ~ 105 K. At the temperatures above Debye temperature, thermal conductivity slowly decreases by increasing the temperature, and shows the minimum around 180 K. Appearance of the minimum in thermal conductivity is expected, because an estimated phonon mean free path at these temperatures is the order of the lattice parameter. A very low room temperature value of thermal conductivity K ~2.5 W/mK may reflects disorder of the lattice.
