The Sorkočević´s Palace
Abstract: The Sorkočević' Palace in Dubrovnik, more excactly The Bishop's Palace, was determined as the multistory apartment house in the early period of 16 century. The bulding occupied the particles of three mediaeval houses, and physically attached (united, incorporated) the St. Bartholomew's Church. Such an originating of the building, and taking into consideration the final form and structure (the rooms distribution) , it could be classified as so called the "growing house" type. After the earthquake in 1667 and all the way until 19 centaury, the northern wing was added (attached) as well as the southern front gable which became the dominate gable. The analysis shows that , in spite of all possible rigorous measures of protection, the complexities in originating of the house could be solved according to the contemporary needs. According to that expirience "Inchiostri" building in Šibenik have been reconstructed.
