Machining of pumps components for chemical industry made of high-alloy silicon casting

The point is materials which are resistant to acids, have got high hardness, resistance to wear and are brittle. The paper provides special parameters and methods for machining of castings by turning, milling and grinding operations. The aim is to get precision casting in order to reduce subsequent machining because of high hardness and brittleness of casting. The mentioned casting is very difficult to machine and , therefore, special technological steps, in both, castings production and machining, are adopted. Although our aim is to get castings with minimum machining allowances, it is very difficult to avoid this on pump components. The review gives the characteristic components with their particularities in machining, machining data and choice of tooling. The inspection in process plan is shown. The paper gives review of the quality assurance in manufacture as well as the form and position tolerances.
