A wooden external fixator for the operative treatment of long bone fractures in dogs and cats
The application of the wooden external fixator (WEF) is in accordance with the general operative principles of external fixators, but long cortical screws with self-tapping tips are used instead of the usual Schantz screws. They are applicated through separate small incisions near operative wound. Two screws are always on each side to ensure stability; one is no sufficient because of rotation.
