Fracture Energy of Ultra High Performance Concrete Beams Using AE Technique
High performance fibre reinforced concrete types are innovative composites which exhbit much higher tensile strenght and ductility than ordinary concrete and high performance concrete do. In order to compare the difference in fracture behaviour between these types an acoustic emission technique was used. Acoustic emission characteristics of three-point bending beams were investigated during the entire loading period. The influence of fibres and concrete performances on the AE characteristics was investigated. The results obtained from the investigation showed that the acoustic emission technique serves a useful purpose of assessing cracking and other irreversible changes in the stressed concrete specimens.
