Finite Element Elastic Homogenisation of a Textile-Like Material
A membrane with the regular square pattern of circular perforations is considered as the simplified model of textile-like material. Boundary conditions on the basic cell are derived from the compatibility of deformed state and are built into an existing programme for finite element analysis. The results indicate the influence of perforation on the global deformations and maximum stress in the case of uniaxial extension, thus delivering the homogenised mechanical properties of such non-homogenous material.
