Wind speed profiles and the Kazanski-Monin parameter under near-neutral conditions
Stability conditions for the Molve location (Croatia) have been analysed in detail quite recently. Even then, a stability investigation was included just as an accompanying but necessary procedure in wind speed modelling. Therefore, the initial stability categorization of the cases for which wind speed was modelled, was based on similarity functions that enabled the best wind speed simulation (primarily for the lowest part of the layer considered in certain cases). Similarity functions and the Monin-Obukhov theory were included in both types of local wind models applied. For the initially determined stability classes, a suitable stability parameter was suggested afterwards. The Kazanski-Monin parameter (m) was identified as a more suitable stability parameter than the Monin-Obukhov parameter L for use in practice at Molve. Namely, although the iteration procedure was applied in stability parameter evaluation, satisfying accuracy of even of the first iteration estimate was detected only for parameter m. This paper shows the range of m values for the near-neutral local stability category as well as the mean measured and mean modelled wind speed profiles for neutral conditions in the periods of two meteorological experiments performed at the natural gas site at Molve in the Pannonian lowlands.
