On the optimization of complementary protein coding
Molecular recognition theory (MRT) states that peptides specified by the complementary RNAs bind to each other with higher specificity and efficacy. The codons for hydrophilic and hydrophobic amino acids are complemented by the codons for reversly changed ones. This theoretical concept has been applied to more than 38 complementary peptide-receptor systems, and its thought to be a value in: deriving new biologically active peptides, defining protein folding and modelling of gene segments.
