EDXRF Spectroscopy of Ink-Jet Materials
Energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) spectroscopy represents a qualitative analyses of the ashes samples. This method enables us to determine concentration of elements in the ashes (Pb, Rb, Sr, Y, Zr, K, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Co). Ash samples were prepared from several different papers and also from Ink-Jet printers made on the same substrates, using both dye and pigment inks. The incinerations of papers and prints was done in the Muflon oven as described in ISO 2144 and T 413 standards. As the analyses is performed on the ashes, it is not posible to diferentiate the of elements in the coatings from those from basic paper structure of coated substrate. The determination of elements in Ink-Jet printing materials may help in explaining the ink-paper interaction in Ink-Jet printing.
