Suspended particulates: monitoring and objectives
Aerosol – Suspended particulate matter Two phase systems: continuous + dispersed phase AEROSOL – liquid and/or solid particles dispersed in gas or gas mixture HYDROSOL – continuous phase is liquid and dispersed phase is solid FOAM – continuous phase is liquid or solid and dispersed phase is gaseous In order to be stable aerosol particles should be airborne for a longer period of time Larger particles have a tendency of sedimentation Particle size range: 0, 002 µ ; m do 100 µ ; m (extremely wide range 1 : 105 ) Each particle consists of several hundred to several billion of molecules → processes in particles can be described statistically Particle characteristics are changing by particle size.
