Reakcija ratarskih kultura na kalcizaciju u istočnoj Hrvatskoj
Soil acidity is certainly one of the most damaging soil conditions affecting the growth of most crops. Plant growth-limiting factors in acid soils include deficiencies (N, P, Ca, Mg, Mo, Zn) and toxicities (Al, Mn, Fe, H) elements. Soil acidity is in many cases limiting factor of arable crops yield in Croatia. A combination of soil management practices, liming in association with corrective levels of P, and use of crop cultivars developed for these low pH conditions is a solution encountered for improvement of field crops production in acid soils. In this study survey of our experiences with liming was shown. Calcite (51% CaO) application (32 t ha- 1) resulted by maize and barley yield increases for 6% and 8%, respectively (Valpovo area), while both maize and wheat yields were decreased for 10% (Mikanovci area). By application waste of sugar factory (carbocalk: 37% CaO) in amount 15 t ha-1 yield of maize were increased for 23% (Djakovo area), while its application in amount 30 t ha-1 resulted by twofold increases of maize yields (Slatina area). By application of carbocalk up to 60 t ha-1, maize yields were increased up to 50% (Pozega area).
