Tooth-Root Stress Analysis of Thin-rimmed Gear with Different Web Arrangements
The paper presents the results of three-dimensional tooth-root stress analysis of spur gear by finite element method. A partial pinion-wheel model has enabled the simulation of load distribution along the tooth facewidth of thin-rimmed gear with the web positioned in the middle and at the end of tooth face. The emphasis has been given to maximum tooth-root stress comparison with the corresponding ones of thin-rimmed gear without web and a solid gear. The results show that the web arrangement of a gear blank has significant effect on tooth-root maximum stress including its magnitude and position along the fillet.
