Generalized differential quadrature for the beam with varying cross section
The generalized differential quadrature method is introduced for the bending of the beam with varying cross section. The numerical scheme for this class of problem is presented. Different function for the cross section changing and different loading and boundary conditions are taken for numerical computation. The results are obtained for various boundary and loading conditions. The calculated results are compared with finite element and exact solutions to show the rate of convergence of the sequences of the generalized differential quadrature solutions for each example. Numerical examples have shown accuracy of the method with relatively small computational effort.
