Oscillating Phenomena in Biosystems:Statistical Approach
Biosystems have the tendency to repeat their activities in time. Chronobiology is a field of biology that examines these time – related phenomena in living organisms. These cycles are very important in many essential biological processes that occur in a "scheduled " fashion ( eating, sleeping, cellular regeneration, ..). The most important rhythm is the " circadian " rhythm which refers to the (roughly) 24-hour daily biological cycle. There are many other important cycles like infradian rhythms ( long-term cycles ), ultradian rhythms ( short-term cycles ), tidal rhythms and the others. We have investigated the influence of the circadian rhythm ( the " internal body clock ") on some very important parameters like immunoglobulin ( IgA, IgG and IgM ), the blood pressure and the heart frequency. Our sample was the group of 22 young men in the age between 20 and 23. We used ANOVA ( ANalysis Of VAriance ) test. Our investigation confirmed the oscillating character of these parameters according to the circadian rhythms.
