Numerical analysis of elastic and viscoplastic failure modes of energetic service applications
The paper deals with the numerical modelling of elastic and viscoplastic material behaviour of pressure vessels and tubes, as well as with the load capacity analysis of the mentioned applications based on the failure phenomena. In energetic systems the pressure vessels and tubes are frequently used in very wide region of environment conditions. A special manner in which a structural member may fail is deflection due to viscoplastic behaviour. To establish suitable failure criteria, the designer must determine the possible modes of failure of the considered member. The proposed algorithm provides the determination of the design limit load or load capacity of the mentioned applications in elastic and viscoplastic region. The procedure is based on the finite element technique.
