Precision Positioning Devices Based on Elastic Elements: Mathematical Modelling and Interferometric Characterization
The study of theoretical and experimental aspects of the mechanical design of high precision manipulators based on spring-strips is presented. The meaningfulness of the approximations introduced by the main analytical methods of characterization of these manipulators is established experimentally using laser interferometry. This measurement technique is particulary suitable when accurate measurements must be performed since it is non-contact, it has a nanometric resolution and it permits to perform measurements characterized by small intervals of uncertainty.
