Područje Požeške županije u srednjem vijeku
This paper surveys the historical conditions of the area comprised by the medieval county of Požega, covering the period from the settlement of the Hungarians in the Pannonian Basin up to the Ottoman conquest (10th through 16th centuries). It brings up the following main questions: establishment of the boundaries between the Zagreb and the Pécs dioceses ; peculiar royal and ducal prerogatives over the land/county of Požega ; the archdeaconry of Požega and the collegiate chapter of St. Peter ; multiple historical relations with Bosnia ; the onset and progression of the Ottoman threat, and its economic and social consequences ; the Požega origins of the magnate family and post-Mohács royal dynasty of the Zapoljski/Szapolyai.
