Measurements of visual thresholds for wavelet quantization noise
This work presents results of the visual thresholds measurements for uniform quantization noise in different DWT subbands. The measurements are made for the gray scale image with different mean background intensity by using the Watson's two-alternative forced-choice method. The obtained results allow calculation of the quantization matrix for uniform quantization, as well as subbands weighting factors for quantization with minimum visual error in a reconstructed picture.
