Durability Monitoring System on the Bridge over Krka River

The bridge over Krka river is constructed at the border of national park Krka, close to the magnificent waterfall Skradinski Buk and to the river mouth into the sea. The structure of the bridge belongs to massive concrete arch bridges, with the span of 210 meters. Road structure is designed as light steel structure, with fall highway cross section. Since the structure is situated in the marine environment, with the high humidity changes and strong winds, main design project included a monitoring system. Faculty of Civil Engineering have designed a complete durability monitoring system in cooperation with the main designer, which will collect parameters of the structural behaviour, crucial for structural durability. Most of the sensors were built into the structure during the construction phase, and some of them were installed after structure was finished. The whole system is put into the function after the structure was finished, and a qualitative data has been established for the future monitoring of the Krka bridge.
