Buckling analysis of beam structures using Eulerian approach
Paper presents a one dimensional beam finite element for stability analysis of structures comprised of straight and prismatic beam members. Displacements and rotations are allowed to be large but strains are assumed to be small. Vlasov’ s assumption is adopted. Stability problem is solved using load-deflection approach. The corresponding equilibrium equations are formulated in the framework of Eulerian description, using the virtual work principle. Numerical algorithm is verified trough a few test problems.
