How many foraminifera live in the Croatian coastal area of the Adriatic Sea?
Foraminiferida are an important, abundant and diverse taxon distributed from the supralittoral of the sea coasts to the abysses of the world oceans. Information of their distribution in the Croatian coast of the Adriatic Sea is scarce because of weak research interest on their distribution. The need to assess the impact of pollution in the Adriatic Sea leads to the study and use of foraminiferal assemblages as environmental quality indicators in coastal settings.
