Effects of soil stiffness and wall thickness on deep excavations

To investigate the influence of soil stiffness and wall thickness on the behavior of diaphragm walls back-analysis as well as the sensitivity analysis was carried out. The results show that soil stiffness has the largest influence on the lateral wall movement. The influence of wall thickness on effective lateral stresses and wall movement, in comparison with influence of soil stiffness, can be neglected. However, wall thickness has the largest influence on the maximum value of the bending moment.
