Influence of direct sowing on microbiological degradation of soil's organic matter in maize production
Average yield of no-till grown corn on pseudoglay soil at eastern Slavonija (45˚ 33΄ N, 18˚ 41΄ E) in first experimental year was 9.97 tha-1 while conventional tillage achived yield of 10.43 tha-1. In second experimental year average conventional tillage yield was 7.35 tha-1 while no-till grown corn yield was 6.60 tha-1 which was 11.4% less than conventionale tillage. Corn yield reduction in 2002. was mainly due to heavy compacted soil that had been made by combine harvesters and trailers fall of 2001. Less passes of machines due to no-till technology of corn production decreased production costs and soil over compaction. During both years of experiment in 0-10 cm soil layer, 34% more of cellulolytic microorganisms were found at no-till plots than at conventional tillage plots. No-till production technology assure faster and better deterioration of harvesting residues.
