Network Characterization of Ehtylene - Propylene-Diene Polymer from Stress-Strain and Equilibrium Swelling
Five samples of Ehtylene-Propylene-Diene, EPDM, containing 55 wt% ethylene, were prepering by peroxide curing. The networks thus formt were highly random which suppose a complex structure and a broad distributions of molecular weight. The networks were studied with regard to their stress-strain isotherms in elongation and their equilibrium swelling inxylene at room temperature. Values of the structure factor Af were calculated from the equilibrium swelling and show the same agreement with the theory as those of the elastic modulus.
