FEM model for lateral buckling analysis of curved beams considering curvature effects

This paper is dealing with the buckling problem of curved beams. The finite element method is presented. With the linearized incremental equilibrium equations, elastic and geometric stiffness matrices of the curved beam finite element are derived. Two nodes with 6 d.o.f. are placed at the each end of the finite element. The displacement components are approximated with exact functions and the effects of curvature are consistently considered.
