Calibration of gas flow meters in range up to 400 m3/h using reference standard with flow range up to 17 m3/h
This paper presents the calibration of working gas flow standards (rotary displacement gas meters G16 and G250). The wet meter NB15 and turbine flow meters G65 and G160 were used as a reference. The calibration was carried out directly in the flow range up to 17 m3/h. In the region above 17 m3/h the calibration was carried out by connecting two turbine flow meters in parallel. They were connected to third turbine flow meter and G250 working standard ; and the position of turbine flow meters was changed. In the region up to 17 m3/h the measurement uncertainty amounts 0.2%, and it is represented as the equivalent of a double standard deviation. In the region up to 400 m3/h the measurement uncertainty equals 0.56%. This is the consequence of summation of measurement uncertainties during parallel operation of turbine flow meters. Results of calibration were accepted by State office for standardisation and measurement of Republic of Croatia. The benefit of this procedure is that the working standards were calibrated at the place of installation, what exclude possible installation effects. Financial benefits are also significant, since it is not necessary to transport and calibrate the working standards in some National measurement institute in Europe.
