Donor Relationship Management in Nonprofit Organizations: From Fund-raising to Collaborative Intersectoral Approaches
In the paper, authors discuss a range of possible donor relationship model-from the B2B- like paradigm of contemporary fud-raising to the strategic alliance option. It is argued that, the nonprofit organizations could enhance the "traditional" paradigm of managing the long-term donor relationship (s) by using the concept of social alliance-building, oriented toward the common goals. Such an orientation is examined in terms of possible modes of cooperation/allience- building and their fundamental determinants. The determinats of the current practices of nonprofit organizations and their corporate partners are, further, identifiedon the basis of longitudinal explaratory reserach, focusing on the experiencesof Caritas Croatia. The theoretical framework is applied to explain the social and organizational patternsof a Christmas-inspired humanitarian project "1000 radosti" ("a 1000 joys") and suggest the nature of relationship(s) and dynamics of collaboration with corporate partners in project implementation.
