The bioacumullation factor for strontium in some danube fishes
The presence of inactive and radioactive strontium in effluents and their possible interactions in the environment are of a special radiological interest. The physico-chemical state, in which particular radionuclides are found, is important for the uptake of radioactive substances into organisms, The parameter of the strontium circulation in a biological chain is the "concentration factor" (bioaccumulation factor), which indicates the possibility of accumulation in particular biological species. The objective of this peper to determine total strontium, also radioactive strontium in a stohastically selected fish organisms samples. From this measured values, bioaccumulation factors for stable strontium and radioactive strontium are calculated. The equation used for BF (bioaccumulation factor for strontium) and for Bfr (bioaccumulaton factor for radioactive strontium) calculation represents the simple one-compartment model for the transfer of 90Sr through the food chain.
