Multi Agent Simulation of Economic Systems

The field of computer modelling and simulation has created different paradigms that resulted in several modelling formalisms and methods for their simulations. The choice of modelling paradigm for purposeful application depends on system's properties and simulation study goals. Most economic systems are complex and require a high level of model disintegration. Multi agent simulation proves to be the adequate modelling paradigm for complex business systems as well as for various microeconomic and macroeconomic models. This paper presents main features of multi agent simulation paradigm for economic systems modelling, as well as characteristics of discrete-event simulation, system dynamics and other methods. Some of the recent applications of the multi agent simulation will be presented and the suitability of multi agents approach to simulation will be discussed.
