Energy value of the cob of different corn hybrids
The research of corn cob energy value used 5 hybrids of the same vegetation group. The hybrids were grown on two different levels of production efficiency, also called the high and the low level of agrotechnology. The research showed that after the higher level of agro technology was applied, the water content in the cob was higher and that the hybrids produced larger cobs. The total share of the cob in ear mass was higher when the high level of agrotechnology was applied. The increased cob production resulted in a greater possibility to use cob for replacing oil as fuel.
