The effects of Fe and Mn on microstructural and mechanical properties of modifiedAl-Si eutectic alloy
The effect of Fe and Mn as impurities on microstructural and tensile properties on Na-modified cast Al-Si alloy of eutectic composition have been studied. The intermetallic, impurity-rich compound, Al(Fe,Mn)Si type, have been examined. Microstructural examination were performed by optical and scanning electron microscopy. Fractography was used to examine fracture surfaces of tensile specimens and correlate structure to ductility of examined samples.It was established that the identified microstructural constituents,wich were developed in segregated part of melt during the solidification, significantly influence on structure and tensile properties examined Al-Si alloy
