Slobin, Dan Isaac (b. 1939)

Dan I. Slobin is interested in the phenomena of language acquisition as a window on the more general issue of the relation of language to cognition and culture. One of his influential proposals was that the acquisition device contains a set of procedures and inference rules for analyzing linguistic data, so-called operating principles.
