Mufwene, Salikoko (b. 1947)
Salikoko S. Mufwene is most famous for studying morphosyntactic and semantic characteristics of Gullah, African-American Vernacular English, and Guyanese and Jamaican Creole. His most important contribution has been to challenge attempts to define Creoles by their structural features and demonstrate that they have developed by the same restructuring processes marking the evolutions of non-Creole languages.
