Finite element methods are extensively used to model the structures in order to foresee their behaviour under loading condition as well as to extract information on the respective dynamic properties such as frequencies and mode shapes. The simulation of behaviour as well as dynamic properties heavily depends on model quality. This fact is used to in two directions: model validation and damage detection.
