Prediocletianic architecture within the Split palace
During the excavations of Diocletian's Palace in Split, carried out in the second half of the 20th century, remains of monumental architecture were found in several places. The decorative features of these fragments in conjuction with the stratigraphic context, made it was obvious that they proceded the construction of Diocletian's Palace and therefore can be dated before the 4th century AD.
