Analysis of the critical parameters for appearance of the backward whirl in rotor-stator systems
Appearance of the backward whirl of a Jeffcot like rotor due to radial impact excitation and contact with a rigid stator is investigated numerically. For this purpose special finite element – FE application was made based on beam elements with flexural and torsional degrees of freedom – d.o.f. In simulations rotor system was driven by a model which represents an induction motor. The stator is supposed to be rigid. Normal force between the disc of the rotor and the stator was assumed to be nonlinear. For numerical integration Generalized–  method was used. Dependence between the most critical parameters for appearance of backward whirl was given.
