Examples of the reinforced soil application for the Split-Ploče motorway

This paper deals with the design and practice of paraweb reinforced soil walls in karst region at the highway Split-Ploče. The vertical multitiered walls made of prefabricated concrete panels will be erected using the resistance of the paraweb strips laid in zig-zag pattern and fixed to steel bars in the fill. The paraweb reinforcement is made up of polyester fibers coated with high density polyethylene and shaped like a belt. The use of paraweb reinforcement provides a structure of high-grade and safe constructions with small deformations. In the paper described is how the parawebsoil system is designed taking into consideration both the internal and external stabilities. The external stability is of special concern in karst region because of po-tential sliding along the joints between the blocks and through the rock mass.
