Entry of small and medium sized enterprises into Croatian economy
Small and medium enterprises have many important roles in the economy. One of the crucial roles in promoting economic growth is to improve dynamism in the economy. Being flexible, small and medium enterprises can adjust to changing business environment better than large firms. The creation of new businesses and the decline or market exit of less productive firms are often regarded as key to business dynamism in developed counties. It is often assumed that countries with higher rates of firm creation have also better business performance. In many cases it is small and medium enterprise that enter new markets first, and some of them become large as a result of successful operation. New firms are thought to be especially innovative and to play important role as job creators. Policy makers often believe that that institutions should foster firm entry.
