Prospects for South-eastern Europe in the Context of EU Enlargement

The invited lecture was presented at the international conference organised within the FP6 project EU Consent – Wider Europe, Deeper Integration. The lecture focused on the following issues: reasons for continued EU enlargement to the SEE region ; borders of Europe, alternative to membership and Croatia as a model for SAP accession. Arguments for enlargement were confronted with the arguments against it. The need for respecting remaining EU commitments regarding enlargement was underlined together with positive economic effects of 5th enlargement, transformative effect of the accession process.
