Nasality in children with cochlear implant
This paper presents the results of the examination of nasality in voice of children who are CI users. The objective estimation of nasality in percentages is done by Nasa View (dr. Speech Tiger electronics). The sample consists of 21 preschool children who are all enrolled into group and individual therapy of hearing and speech in the SUVAG Polyclinic. The children are divided into three groups according to the duration of rehabilitation and after cochlear implantation. For the data analysis we use the pronunciation of the vowel “ A” , while the whole research includes wider segments of speech. The percentage of voice nasality according to the groups is the highest for the first group - 23, 68%. For the third group of children with the longest rehabilitation time the percentage of voice nasality is 14, 73%.
