The yields and grape quality of introduced white varieties of grapevines in region of Istria (Croatia)
The researches were carried out in an experimental vineyard of Institute for agriculture and tourism in Porec. Quantity and quality of introduced cultivars Chardonnay R8, Pinot white R5, Pinot gris R6, Rhein riesling R2 and Sauvignon R3 were compared with autochthonic cultivar of grapevine Istrian Malvasia during three years (1994,1995,1996) for estabilishing their produce at agroecological conditions of Istria. The yield per vine didnt differ from standard at all tested cultivars in all three years of trial. The fact that these cultivaes mainly had higher number of clusters with lower weight from standard were confirm. The grape and wine quality, in relation to standard one, was better at all cultivars during three years of trial except at Rhein riesling in 1995, and Pinot white in 1995 and 1996.
