Predictors of Response to Surgery in Allergic Patients with Chronic Rhinosinusitis

The purpose of the study was to determine whether a correlation exists between histopathologic findings and symptoms in allergic patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) who underwent endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS). The aim was to evaluate predictable value of histopathologic findings to surgery. Fifty patients with CRS who underwent ESS enrolled the study. Certain histopathologic findings in CRS are predictive of favorable response to ESS. Pathologic evaluation may help the ENT surgeon to predict the persistence of certain CRS symptoms after ESS.
