The Reform of Company Law in the EU and Electronic Media

In this paper the authors analyse the justified reasons for the reform of company law and enhancing corporate governance in the EU.According to the authors' perspective, the creation of individual phases of reform increases the rights of shareholders and their protection and integrates the European capital markets. It principally analyses the proposed EU directive about the exercise of shreholders voting rights and the use of electronic means in general meetings.Having analysed the parts to the reform that are realated to the exercise of shareholders voting rights and the use of electronic means, the authors conclude that the reforms and harmonisation of EU company law were necessary to create a dynamic and inter-connected industrial society.
