Modelling the Height of the Stable Urban Boundary Layer
Several formulations of the height (h) of the stable atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) were applied to the Zagreb urban area. Heights were determined from: 1) radio-sonde soundings performed at urban site M ; and, 2) special turbulence measurements within the urban roughness sublayer. The latter were carried out at the 3.36 km distant urban point H. For situations characterized by a low static stability and strong low-level winds, results revealed large discrepancies between employed calculation methods. Smaller, discrepancies between various methods were found for weaker low-level winds accompanied by a strong static stability.
