Researches of Non-Involute Toothing With Harmonic Basic Profile
This paper elaborates some properties of special toothing with harmonic basic profile. The gears of this type have the convex-concave contact at the beginning and end of meshing path. This assures the significant reduction of contact pressure on these points. Moreover, maximal contact pressure approximately equals to contact pressure at kinematic pole of the gears with involute profile. Consequently it is possible to avoid the damages of teeth flanks and to increase the reliability and durability of gearbox. Furthermore, concave-convex contact together with smaller curvature and larger cross section of root fillet significantly enlarge carrying capacity in comparison to involute toothing. That is verified with performed calculations and photo-elastic measurements in real meshing conditions.
