Implementing Portfolios - Some Pedagogical Implications and Guidelines

In the past few years there has been a lot of discussion on the concept of learning and assessment and on the need to enhance, document and assess the process of learning. The introduction of a learning portfolio is a possible and observable avenue which allows students to take over responsibility for their learning and to provide evidence for it. For teachers, on the other hand, it is a facet of reflective teaching, and of communication. It is also a powerful tool to record and assess the competence students gain and what they learn about themselves through the process.
