The Study of Ink-Jet Droplet Formation

The quality of Ink-Jet (IJ) prints depends on the interaction between IJ ink and printing substrate. The penetration of printing ink should be low in order to retain high optical colour density. The surface of the paper also plays an important role: the absorption capacity for printing inks should be controlled. The aim of the study was to find quick and relevant method that can give a rapid and accurate insight into the IJ ink – substrate interaction. In addition we wanted to investigate the formation of IJ printing ink drop on different types of substrate surface and determine the impact of the paper surface on the drying process and on the final print quality.
